Lactation Consults
What is a CLC? Certified Lactation Counselor (CLCs) are healthcare providers that have received training and competency verification in breastfeeding and human lactation support. The CLC certification is the premier National Certification in Lactation Management in the US. Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) are an essential part of the healthcare team, offering mothers guidance and advice on the best practices for breastfeeding. CLCs recognize that each mother has her own values and goals, which may differ from those of the counselor. Therefore, a counseling approach is utilized to gather information and provide appropriate support to the mother and her family.
Do you offer prenatal support? Absolutely! Sam offers a 1-hour private prenatal consultation to expecting mothers and their support person. We will go over breastfeeding misconceptions, benefits of breastfeeding, and ways to optimize your breastfeeding journey and any questions you may have. This consultation is free for existing members and $75.00 for non-members.
Do you accept insurance? Yes! We can provide in-office lactation visits billed through insurance. We offer self-pay options as well for out-of-network patients.
I’m not sure if I want to breastfeed, can you still help with feeding support? Yes! We understand that each family has their own set of goals and unique circumstances that determine their feeding journey. We can navigate and counsel each family based on their individual needs.

Medical Ear Piercing
Why get your ears pierced by a medical provider? Unlike the mall or other non-medical offices, our office uses sterile medical grade titanium and plastic only. This avoids allergic reactions and minimizes the risk of infection. We can also provide numbing cream upon request.
What age is best? We recommend patients are at least 3 months old and have received their first round of vaccines. After 9 months of age, we recommend waiting until the child can “ask” to get their ears pierced.
What is the cost? The ear piercing fee is $125 for non-members and $100 for members of Moon River Pediatrics. This includes the cost of earrings.
What else should I know? The pierced stud should be left in for 6 weeks before changing out the earring. Ideally an earring should be worn at all times during the first 12 months to prevent the hole from closing up. Swimming is not recommended for the first two weeks after piercing.
